Code of Conduct

This site is setup as an information exchange, educational and standards development facility to support the SPDC activities.

We want all users of this site to have an exciting, friendly and safe experience. Accordingly, all site user account holders must comply with this Code of Conduct in any contributions they make. By posting materials to this site you accept and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

Within this Code of Conduct, "contribution" means any material posted or uploaded to the site by a user, including any text, photographs, graphics, software, video or audio material.

General Rules:

Site users must not:

·break the terms & conditions of this site

·send offensive or harassing material to other users;

·publish defamatory and/or knowingly false material about any person, other users or entities;

·publish or otherwise reveal confidential information, including financial information and information relating to customers, business plans, policies, staff, and/or internal discussions relating to any entity;

·undertake deliberate activities that undermine the purpose of this site;

·introduce any form of malicious software into the community.

·plagiarize or violate copyright, database, trademark, trade secret, privacy, personal or proprietary rights of any kind. (Users will generally need the explicit permission from copyright owners of any existing articles, news reports, music, video clips or other copyrighted material before posting them to public site areas)

·publish anything containing unlawful, objectionable, disruptive, offensive, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene, offensive, abusive, hateful, inflammatory, profane, racially offensive, sexually offensive, or religiously offensive content.

Contributions must not:

·promote illegal behaviour, contain violent or sexually explicit material or advocate, promote or assist any unlawful act such as copyright infringement or computer misuse.

·misrepresent their origins. Contributions and/or user names may not be used to impersonate any other person, to misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person, or to give the impression that they emanate from SPDC officials when it is not the case.

·involve in any flooding, spamming or advertising. (Flooding is when the same material is posted over and over in the same thread or folder; spamming is the posting of the same material (or very similar) to more than one thread or folder.)

·be in any language other than the site language of English Contributions in other languages may be removed.

Many of the postings to this site are public and may appear in public search results. Accordingly, users should not post personal details or information that should not be publically available.

Contributions must be:

·your own original work. You may be entitled to incorporate into your contribution certain material made available on our site but only where that is expressly made clear. Otherwise, all material in your contributions must be your own original piece of work and should not plagiarise others’ work.

·true and accurate. Your contributions must be true, accurate (where they state facts) and be genuinely held (where they state opinions).

Please be respectful and civil to other members, even if you disagree with them. Debates should be productive and founded on constructive criticism.


All postings must be related to the site objectives.

Breach of Code of Conduct

It will be our sole decision as to whether there has been a breach of this Code of Conduct. We have the right (but not the obligation) to edit, refuse to post, or to remove any contribution in whole or in part that we deem to be in breach of the Code of Conduct. Where we believe there is a breach of the Code of Conduct, we may take whatever action we feel is appropriate in the circumstances.

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct constitutes a material breach of the site Terms, which could result in us taking any of the following actions:

• issuing a warning to you;

• immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of any contribution or of your right to use our websites, including deletion of any personal profile;

• in extreme cases, we reserve the right to take legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all losses and costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach and/or further legal action against you; and/or

• disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities or other relevant third parties as we reasonably feel is necessary.

We exclude liability for actions taken in response to breaches of this Code of Conduct. The responses described in this policy are not limited, and we may take any other action we reasonably deem appropriate.

If you reasonably believe that any contribution to this site made by another user contravenes this Code of Conduct and/or any of the site Terms & Conditions, please notify the Webmaster.

Rules for effective use of this site:

Read and search the forums before you post: Your question might have already been addressed in another similar posting. Avoid starting unnecessary new topics, and add your question or point of view to existing topics where possible.

Use meaningful contribution topic titles: The titles of the topics you post should be meaningful to other users, both now and in the future. Be aware that other users decide to read your topic, only based on the information provided by you in the topic, so be complete, precise and accurate.

Remember your audience: Some contribution areas are public, and postings should not contain any personal information. Do not publish anything here you would not want to be made public. Since these forums will be online for a long time, please remember that anything you write here can still be found by anyone even a long time from now.

Be polite: Challenge arguments, not people, write your postings in a professional manner. Do not “shout” (making excessive use of capitalization or exclamation points or other excessive text formatting options)

Respect the SPDC core values: Integrity, Professionalism and respect for diversity. Any postings violating these values or containing language that does not respect these values will be removed.
